I new to Omni and to KGTD. I have been using the programs for about two weeks and everything has been working very well…. untill yesterday. My iCal has suddenly stopped working correctly. None of my To Do items show up and in the To Do column the calendar grid shows through. When I try to drag an item into the To Do column nothing happens. ICal locks up and has become very unstable. I haven’t gotten much help from Apple support so I’m wondering if the problem may have something to do with OmniOutliner or KGTD. I have reloaded OSX 10.4.8 but the problem persists. This looked like such a wonderful setup but now I’m not sure if I can trust it. Any suggestions?

Hi, You’ve probably
Hi,
You’ve probably added a URL or file link to some of your kGTD actions. When you Sync, iCal can’t handle the links. Move the links to the Notes of your tasks and that will stop happening. See the Troubleshooting section of the FAQs.

I looked for linked URL’s or files and found none. When I try to do anything involving the “to do“‘s things just stop working. Here is where it gets strange. If I transfer via iSync a “to do” from my palm pilot to iCal the “to do” will not show up in iCal. BUT then when I sync KGTD with iCal it will pull the “to do” from somewhere in iCal and put it in the “in box”. What in the heck is going on here?
Hi Charles, You’re
Hi Charles,
You’re right, that is strange. Most people using kGTD with a palm have had to use Missing Sync rather than iSync, but I don’t know if there is a specific issue preventing iSync from working. [And using Missing Sync from pda to iCal to kGTD has it’s own problem, discussed here.]
There is a separate problem with iCal that you might have run into, although I don’t think it would cause all your problems. When you get “too many” todos or calendars in iCal, the todos stop showing. They’re still in the database, but the display routine hangs up. Reports of how many is “too many” vary from appox 100 todos to something over 250, so it’s probably something a little more complicated that just how many todos there are.
Anyway, the usual suggestions for iCal problems are (in order of increasing severity):
Details of these procedures are in the troubleshooting section of the FAQs.
Hi, had the same problem.
Hi, had the same problem. iCal became unstable, todos not showing up. Tried many things, but finally found something that worked.
1) Quit iCal
2) Start iCal
3) Disable kGTD exported calendar in iCal (checkbox)
4) Enable the calendar again
5) Delete the calendar
Do steps 3-5 for every kGTD calendar in iCal. Now iCal should be working again.
PS: I lost much data with kGTD and my iCal became unstable. kGTD is alpha software and users should be more warned before downloading it. After getting iCal back to life, I uninstalled kGTD from my system.

Re: iCal crash
Humm, so the links are what’s doing it. I just started using links heavily to speed my access to my tasks and have found it to be immensly helpful working out of Kinkless…..
So, is there a way for Kinkless to only update changes from ICal so that if my assistnat marks something done in ICal - the sync will bring the change in but not export the links? Otherwise I’ll just have to manage the linked projects in a separate KGTD document I guess.
Seems like the link features are some of the best part of The Omni side of the app.
