How to fix a NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4?

Hello,

my kink has a problem:

AppleScript reported the following error: OmniOutliner Professional got an error: NSReceiverEvaluationScriptError: 4

Does anybody know how i can make it work again?

This seems to occur when

This seems to occur when there is some damage to the kGTD file. Sometimes it can be recovered from by rebuilding the file (erase all your action section and the run the Sync script) or making a new kGTD file and pasting the projects section from the old file into the new file.

The FAQs have more detailed instructions for rebuilding or replacing your file.

thanks a mil for your input. i did go through it and did rebuild, (or tried to) and created a new file and copied, and there is some improvement- now i get a different error message:

AppleScript reported the following error: No result was returned from some part of this expression.

can anyone tell me how to get ahead from here?

You could open the Sync

You could open the Sync script in Script Editor and run it from there to see what is getting the error message. Open the Event Log to see what handler (subroutine) is running.

i managed to do so, as i did, i got a lot of “metasomethingsomething is missing” messages from within omnioutliner.

though having these messages show up on every sync, i can sync now, and as it seems, it is all there.

thanks- do you happen to know how to make the error messages go away too?

As yesteray says, more info would help.

One possibility is that you have pasted your kGTD data into a blank file (which wouldn’t have all the metasomethings that kGTD uses) rather than an empty kGTD file (which would have all those hidden identifiers). If that’s the case, then the Sync button would recognize Projects section and create the Actions section with Context lists, but probably not do anything else.

Is that what you’re seeing?

hello, i tried to do that.

i tried to do that. the installation works, the initial sync works, but when i paste my projekts into the new sheet, it all starts to stop again- the sync doesnt finish, i can only make it go through by starting the sync from the script editor…
