I’m just getting started with GTD and kGTD and have to say that it’s so nice to find a slick app that just works the way I want it too (especially when numerous more expensive solutions get it so wrong!). I began installing from the kGTD w/ Date and Time but unsorted, and excitedly put all my projects in there (as the DaveCo man says one should) and syncd them to iCal so I can integrated my Palm and OfficeTime tracking app for invoicing. Then I tried to use a Future catagory (after seeing Marlin Mann’s screenshot) and when nothing happened I learned that there were separate “Sorted” setups. I was fairly successful at migrating from unsorted to sorted by first erasing all the projects in the Sorted setup, then erasing all the context entries and pasting in the context entries from the unsorted version’s inspector and then pasting in all the unsorted projects, rebuilding and re-entering all the ical sync data. The problem, however, is that it seems the Done and Next statuses for tasks are frozen in the Projects page (not in the actions page, but I am unable to change the status of the twins). Is there any way for me to recover from this or am I in for a round of extensive data entry. Any chance of just importing from iCal where all the data is still sitting?

Again, thanks for the great great app.

Never Mind

Closing the setup and re-opening it seems to have done the trick.

Ethan, Just a quick note:

Ethan,

Just a quick note: the Future category in Merlin Mann’s setup is a totally separate function from the sorted and unsorted documents… i.e. you can use the “future” section in both those types of documents.

If you’re still having problems with your projects section being locked-up, let me know and we can address.
