I installed kGTD about a week ago, and have found it to be very useful. However, I’ve had huge difficulties with the QuickSilver action. Basically, the action has no effect: the text I enter in QS doesn’t get transferred to kGTD.

I didn’t have QuickSilver when I first installed kGTD, but was convinced to re-install it when I read about the kGTD QuickSilver action — so I thought the fact that I installed QS after installing kGTD might have something to do with it. But just reinstalling kGTD (including compiling the QS action) didn’t work. I wound up deleting all the kGTD scripts and actions, and reinstalling again; after this, the action finally worked — for about a day. Now it’s not working again, and even deleting the scripts & actions and reinstalling kGTD doesn’t fix it.

Any ideas?

This could be resolved by a restart. I am new to kGTD, though I’m a long time QS user. I am starting to use that action more and more. The QS action places new tasks in the “inbox” so be sure to look there and then assign it a proper context (and project) later.

Yes, I’ve tried all the obvious things like restarting (including restarting the computer). Thanks, though.

How do you add a task with a context and a project through QuickSilver? What is the exact syntax or process?

How do you enter a kGTD task with Quicksilver?

The Installation

The Installation instructions recommend re-compiling the script, Send to kGTD.scpt, when installing:

  • If you plan on using the QS action, you should probably cover your bases by recompiling it. Open the Quicksilver action: ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions/Send to kGTD.scpt in script editor (just double clicking on it should do the trick, hit “compile” and then save.

I don’t know why your set-up would work and then stop, but maybe this will help.

The other QS problem that seems to come up a lot is that the path to the data file gets messed up or out-of-date. It’s stored in ~/Library/Preferences/com.kinkless.kgtd.plist.

If you have Quicksilver set

If you have Quicksilver set to auto update then it’s a good idea to try the recompile on the script as Paul links to above.

Re: QuickSilver action didn't work, then did, now doesn't.

QS & kGTD is spotty for me as well.

I’ve tried all of the above suggestions with no solution. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t.

The whole QS/kGTD feels like I’m using windows again. “X doesn’t work in . Oh, just restart the program or reboot and it’ll work.”

sigh

I just restarted and reopened my kGTD file and discovered something added that wasn’t showing up before. No idea how/why. Just is. Trying to add a Task now, nothing happens.

sigh

and now it works again. ><
